设于浙江大学文化遗产研究院的艺术与考古研究中心，是普林斯顿大学艺术史系方闻教授倡议设立的。其设立的宗旨之一，是加速我国艺术史学科的创立，并加速与国际大学的学科接轨。

主编缪哲，1965年生，1986年毕业于北京大学中文系，2007年毕业于南京师范大学，获博士学位。现为浙江大学文化遗产研究院教授、艺术与考古研究中心主任。译有《美洲三书》《瓮葬》《塞耳彭自然史》《钓客清话》；著有《祸枣集》；发表论文有《周公辅成王》《重访楼阁》《孔子师老子》《释“图画天地品类群生杂物奇怪山神海灵”》《汉代的正面骑与背面骑》《汉代的正面车马》《浪井和西王母——与王莽有关的四种画像石主题》《旁证》《汉代艺术中外来母题举例——以画像石为中心》等；另有《从敦煌到犁靬》《汉代艺术的“开”与“合”》《艺术史中的文献与“家法”》《以图证史的陷阱》等文字见于报刊。
