安妮·普鲁，美国当代重要作家，曾获普利策奖、美国国家图书奖、福克纳奖和薇拉文学奖等文学奖项。1935年出生于康涅狄格州。自二十世纪八十年代末开始，陆续创作了《心灵之歌及其他》（1988）、《明信片》（1992）、《船讯》（1993）、《手风琴罪案》（1996）、《近距离：怀俄明故事》（即《断背山》，1999）和《老谋深算》（2002）等作品。

What Jack remembered and craved in a way he could neither help nor
