萨尔瓦多.达利(1904-1989)

1904年5月11日生于西班牙菲格拉斯，1989年1月23日逝世。西班牙超现实主义画家和版画家，以探索潜意识的意象著称。达利是二十世纪最伟大的超现实主义画家，他与毕加索、马蒂斯一起被认为是二十世纪最有代表性的三个画家。

Salvador Dali was born on May 11, 1904 in a Spanish town of Figueres, and died on January 23, 1989. Salvador Dali is an eccentric surrealist painter famous for exploring imago of subconsciousness. His name is synonymous with the surrealist art movement. He is considered as the greatest artist of the surrealist art movement and one of the greatest masters of art of the twentieth century, along with Picasso and Matisse.

Dali’s art career of 70 years was a legend. Dali owned excellent talents and imagination. He turned the subjective world into exciting images.His personality caused a lot of controversies. His life itself was a real surrealist. He was well known for “giving marks to great masters” in his weird behaviors and comments. It is Dali who brought forth the word “surrealism” to various languages to mean an irrational, pornographic, crazy and modern art. No one is able to deny Dali’s endless talents, imagination capacity and strong confidence.

Dali was a prolific artist, creating more than 1500 paintings during his life time and many works in other mediums, including prints, drawings, sculpture, book illustration, and theater set designs. His works continue to fetch increasingly high prices in art auction houses throughout the world today.
