作者简介：Erkki Helammaa,Erkki Helamaa has wo rked in the field of architecture since 1945．first as a student and after graduation as an architect with his own practice．In l969—1987，parallel to his practice，he was a professor at Tampere University of Technology His wo rks include the renovation ofthe bi rth home ofauthor Aleksis Kivi(1951)，artist Akseli Gallen-Kallela’S Tarvaspaa Museum(1961)．and sculptor EmiI Wikstr6m’S Visavuori Atelier Museum(1967)．In addition to

these，Helamaa also designed the Tampere University Central Hospital(1 955—62)，the Central Ostrobothnia Central Hospital(1962—69)，Herttoniemi Hospital．Helsinki(1968-71)，the YIT company headquarters，Helsinki(1985)and the Kankaanpaa Rehabilitation Centre(1991)．He has written numerous books and articles about the Finnish sauna．Rakennustieto has published the foflowing books on saunas by Helamaa：Huoneistosauna The individuaI apartment sauna (1987)，Talosauna The communal apartment block sauna (l991)，and Kiuas—saunan sydein The Sauna Stove—The Heart ofthe Sauna (1999)．He also has articles in the books，Sauna—Fura—mipi．Bathing on Three Continents (2001)and Finnish Sauna-Construction and Design(2007)．
