弗里曼戴森（FreemanJ.Dyson）924年出生于英国，947年至美国康奈尔大学作研究，95年正式居留美国，953年成为普林斯顿高等研究院物理学教授至今。戴森教授不仅是位的理论物理学者，更是一位关心人类命运、向往无限宇宙的睿智哲人。一生优游数学、粒子物理、固态物理、核子工程、生命科学、天文学等领域，志在探索未知的世界。戴森教授早年为量子电力学的巨擘，与诺贝尔物理学奖擦肩而过。956年发表的《自旋波》论文，迄今被引用至少675次，堪称物理学史上的重量级论文之一。戴森教授于普林斯顿高等研究院服务40年。993年8月号《科学美国人》的一篇专访，称他为“与主流成90°角前进的人”。即便如此，戴森仍获得许多殊荣 伦敦皇家学会休斯奖、德国物理学会普朗克奖、奥本海默纪念奖、海法理工学院的哈维奖等。戴森教授尚著有《宇宙波澜》、《与希望》等书，在科学界与一般读者中都激起极大的回响。
